This blog is where I ramble on about gadgets, technology in general, and my new hobby – radio controlled stuff.
I’ll post reviews of products and services from time to time – I don’t pretend to be an expert on everything I review, but then, I believe that “experts” don’t always provide the best reviews. Sure, an expert can tell you that printer A is 5dB louder than printer B, or that TV C has slightly better contrast then TV D – but what they don’t tell you is whether a product, regardless of how it compares to similar products, is worth buying. For most consumers, the absolute best isn’t always necessary – the best TVs are often more expensive or complicated than other perfectly good ones, for example – and that’s what I’ll be looking at.
When I review something, I won’t bother with giving it marks out of ten, or five, or a hundred – it’ll simply come down to three choices:
- Don’t bother – this means I don’t think this item is worth buying. It’s either stonkingly bad, over-priced, or just plain rubbish.
- Worth a look – this means I think the product is worth looking into if you’re in the market for it. There will be pros and cons to it, but they’ll be things that some people won’t be bothered about. There will also be other products that are worth considering.
- Get it – quite simple, really. This item or service is definitely worth buying. It’s more than good enough, and I reckon you’ll be more than happy with it.
Of course, these are just my opinions – your mileage may vary.
My reviews are either things I’ve bought, looked at buying, or been asked about by friends and family. If it’s something I’ve bought, you’ll still get an honest review – quite often some reviews on Amazon, for example, are undeservedly good because people feel that they can’t admit they made the wrong choice. If I’ve done that, I’d rather other people didn’t make the same mistake!
Of course, you’re welcome to leave comments on my blog – but due to the high volume of spam posts, comments are moderated and may take some time to appear.
